Information Technology Maintenance Alert: Network Upgrade December 26th
Posted by Aaron Hockett on 26 December 2011 07:37 AM

Cloud

What:  Network Upgrade

Where:  All campus buildings including: Tabor, Cascade, and 205

When:  All Day Monday, December 26th

Why:  New Switches and Firewalls are being installed

What Do You Need to Do:  Plan to avoid use of campus computers and printers on the 26th

Over the holiday break there will be a  major upgrade of the college network hardware and communication circuits.  This is a part of a long-term plan to improve services to all campus locations.  Work will start at 8am on the 26th and continue until completed.  Please plan on all information technology services being unavailable for 24 hours starting at that time.

Email will only be out of service a very short time at some point during this period (the exact time cannot be predicted in advance).  No mail should be lost but some senders may receive the standard “mail delivery has been delayed” message if delivery is attempted during the email outage but the messages should be automatically resent and will arrive when mail comes back online after the upgrade.

Other network and software services will be down for longer periods during the day as we work through each server and building to bring them up on the new equipment.

Linda Rudawitz

Director, Information Technology

Possible DNS issues on both Employee and Student side internet connections
Posted by Aaron Hockett on 06 December 2011 04:12 PM

CloudAll ~

We have been getting some reports of errors getting to some websites both on the Employee side and the Student side.  There have been some reported DNS issues today on the internet so you may experience some issues getting to your normal websites.  The only remedy is going to be waiting for the servers to pick up the correct addresses again.

Thank you to all the people who sent this in.
